Spinal Decompression Therapy

Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression (NSSD) Therapy at Advent Health Daytona Beach (Formerly Florida Hospital)

Traction is Not Spinal Decompression.

Research shows that spinal decompression has been proven to be much more effective and bio-mechanically  beneficial. Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression (NSSD) has a much higher success rate compared to traditional traction techniques. Spinal Decompression decreases pressure on the spine, vertebral discs, and facet joints. The DRX9000C creates negative intradiscal pressure pulling nutrients, oxygen and water back into the disc. Time, pressure, and the correct angle for the injury being addressed are all taken into account to create a customized treatment plan.
Each decompression cycle lasts about 1 minute and the entire process takes around 20-30 minutes long.

The special computerized logarithmic compression and decompression cycles produced by the DRX9000C eliminates the tightening of the spinal muscles that occurs in traditional traction techniques. When pulling forces are exerted on the spine receptors on the joint surface fire. This causes the spinal muscles to respond by tightening.

The computerized spinal decompression produced by the DRX9000C bypasses this response making the treatment extremely effective and comfortable. The absence of the tightening of the surrounding spinal muscles allow true spinal decompression to occur.
During treatment patients feel the machine lengthen their spine and relieve the pressure on their discs. That vacuum effect differentiates spinal decompression from traction

Normal Standing
100mmHg of pressure on the spine

Proper lifting
300mmHg on the spine

Improper lifting (bending over with the legs straight)
800mmHg on the spine

DRX900C  Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression (NSSD)
